Add tracking links to Google Business Profile

Put a tracked booking link on your Google listing so you can prove how many bookings your Maps and Search presence actually delivers.

For most local businesses, the Google listing is the single biggest source of new customers — and the least measured. Adding a tracked booking link to your Google Business Profile turns that traffic into a number you can actually report on.

You need a tracking link first

Create one in Marketing Tracking at /app/business/widget/tracking. See Create marketing tracking links if you have not done this before.

  1. Open Marketing Tracking in the Partner Portal.
  2. Name it something like “Google listing — Riverside”.
  3. Set the source to the Google Business Profile preset.
  4. Give it a campaign name you will keep, such as “google-listing-evergreen”.
  5. Select the location this listing belongs to.
  6. Choose the destination booking flow, save, and copy the custom booking link.

One link per location

Google listings are per-location, so create a separate tracking link scoped to each branch. Sharing one link across every listing makes it impossible to tell which shopfront is producing the bookings.

Step 2 — Add it to your Google listing

Google’s interface changes fairly often, and the exact field name depends on your business category. The general path is consistent:

  1. Sign in to the Google account that manages the listing and open your Business Profile — from Google Search, Google Maps, or the Business Profile manager.
  2. Choose Edit profile.
  3. Find the links section — depending on your category this is labelled Bookings, Appointment links or Reservations.
  4. Paste your tracked booking link into that field.
  5. Save, and give Google time to review the change — updates are not always instant.

Other places on the listing worth a tracked link

Google Posts, your services or menu section, and any "Order online" or "Learn more" field all accept a URL. Use a separate tracking link for each so you can see which part of the listing works.

Step 3 — Test it

  1. Use the open/test action on the tracking link in the portal to confirm it loads the right booking flow.
  2. Then find your listing in Google as a customer would, and click the button on the listing itself.
  3. Check the booking flow opens with the correct location preselected.

A note about third-party booking providers on Google

Some listings already show a booking button supplied by a directory or aggregator that Google has connected automatically. That button is not yours and its bookings will not carry your tracking. If you want your Google traffic attributed to Seatingly, make sure your own tracked link is the one in the booking or appointment field.

Reading the results

Bookings from this link appear under the Google Business Profile source in Marketing → Insights (/app/marketing/insights) and as filterable rows in Reports → Bookings (/app/reports/bookings).

  • The attribution window is 30 days, which suits Google traffic — people often look you up, then book later in the week.
  • A guest who reaches your booking page by typing your website address instead of clicking the listing is correctly labelled Direct/Unknown. Google will always be undercounted relative to its real influence.
  • Comparing weeks before and after you add the link is the fastest way to see the difference.

If bookings are not showing up against this source, work through Troubleshoot missing campaign attribution.
