Add the booking widget to WordPress

WordPress is the easiest platform to install the Seatingly widget on, because it accepts raw HTML in a block. This guide covers the block editor, page builders, and the theme-level install you need for a floating button that follows guests across every page.

This is the right choice for a dedicated booking section on a specific page, such as "Book a table" or "Appointments".

1. 1In the WordPress admin, open Pages and edit the page where you want the widget.
2. 2Click the + button to add a block, search for “Custom HTML”, and insert it.
3. 3Paste both lines of the embed code into the block.
4. 4Use the block’s Preview tab to confirm it renders, then click Update to save the page.
5. 5Open the published page in a normal browser tab and make a test booking.

Most WordPress page builders ship an equivalent element. The names differ but the process is identical: drop the element on the canvas and paste both lines into it.

If you have chosen the floating booking button widget type, you want it available everywhere. Load the script once from your theme instead of adding it to every page.

1. 1Create a child theme if you do not already use one, so a theme update cannot overwrite your change.
2. 2Open Appearance → Theme File Editor and select footer.php.
3. 3Paste the embed code immediately before the closing </body> tag.
4. 4Save the file and reload your site with a hard refresh.

• Nothing renders at all. Check that your widget configuration is published in the portal, not just saved as a draft.
• You can see the code as text on the page. It went into a text block rather than a Custom HTML block.
• It works logged in but not logged out. A caching or optimisation plugin is serving an old copy. Clear the cache and purge your CDN.
• The script tag disappears after saving. Some security plugins and non-administrator roles strip scripts from post content. Use the theme or plugin method above, or fall back to the direct booking link.

When a script simply will not survive, link a button to your hosted booking page instead. It is the same booking flow on a Seatingly URL, and it works in any block, menu or widget area.
